Selling Your Business Confidentially

The question we get asked before anything about price is some version of: how do I do this without anyone finding out.

It is the right question. A sale that becomes common knowledge before it closes can cost you your best employees, your largest customer, and a meaningful part of your price. Confidentiality is not a courtesy in this process. It is a commercial protection, and it needs to be designed rather than promised.

How We Protect Your Identity

The blind profile

Your business goes to market as an anonymous summary. Industry, general location, revenue and earnings ranges, a description of the operation and the opportunity, with nothing that identifies you. Not the company name, not the specific location, not the customer names, and not details so distinctive that someone in your industry would recognise you from them.

Staged release of information

Information goes out in stages that match how serious the buyer has become. Early on, the blind profile. After an NDA and initial screening, the company name and a confidential information package. Later, once there is a real offer and proof of funds, the detailed financials, the customer list structure, and the operational specifics. The most sensitive material, including named customer contracts and employee details, comes last.

Management meetings happen after hours, before opening, off site, or by video. Not on your shop floor at eleven on a Tuesday with a stranger in a jacket taking notes.

When a site visit is genuinely necessary, and eventually it usually is, we plan the cover story with you in advance and we keep the group small.

Controlled meetings

Our focus is on doing right by the owner — whether that means working together or helping point you in the right direction.

Managing Communication So It Does Not Disrupt Your Business

Every business for sale attracts inquiries from people who cannot buy it. Some are curious, some are early in a search with no funding arranged, and some are gathering competitive intelligence.

We verify capacity before a buyer gets to you. For a cash buyer that means proof of funds. For an SBA buyer it means a pre qualification from a lender who has actually looked at their financial position, not a general statement that they intend to seek financing. For a private equity group or search fund it means confirming committed capital and understanding their mandate.

Screening Buyers Before They Reach You

All buyer communication comes through us. You do not field calls, you do not answer emails from strangers, and you do not spend your week explaining the business to people who were never going to buy it.

What reaches you is a short list of qualified parties and a summary of everything else. Your job during the process is to keep running the business well, because the numbers a buyer sees at closing are the numbers you produce while the sale is happening.

We are based in Austin, Texas and work with owners across Central Texas including Travis, Williamson and Hays counties. We also represent sellers in San Antonio, Houston and Dallas Fort Worth.

Most of our work is out of state. We have closed transactions in Texas, California, South Carolina and Maine, and we represent sellers nationwide. Valuation is largely a document exercise, so where you are located does not change the quality of the analysis or the price of it.

Where We Work

Who We Work With

Privately held, owner operated businesses across a wide range of industries, generally between $200,000 and $6,000,000 in annual profit, with enterprise values from $500,000 to $30,000,000.

Common Questions About Confidentiality

Will my business be listed publicly?

Only as a blind profile, and only where it helps. Some businesses are better marketed through direct outreach to a targeted buyer list than through public marketplaces. We will recommend an approach and explain the reasoning.

Who sees my financials?

Only buyers who have signed an NDA and cleared screening, and even then in stages. Full detail goes to a short list of serious parties, not to everyone who inquires.
